Rev Counter
« on: May 23, 2020, 07:22:54 PM »
Hi ,
I'm after a battery operated rev counter for a 2 stroke single.

Does anyone have anything available,  digital or analogue?

Any modern tacho will work Nick. 3 wire. positive, negative, and trigger from the coil. The bike it comes off needs to be 1 coil per cylinder thats all. The new triumph ones are what I use as they are top of the range (cheap).

Hello Spen, is there a model you would recommend, as the screen size seems quite small to be able to read, thanks

Some are fairly small, I bought a few off eBay and tried them. Some are a reasonable size, the one we used had engine running time, a wire with a ‘washer’ on the end which went under the spark plug and measured temperature and also a rev’ counter. They were about a tenner each but I’m going back about 15 years. I’ll have a look on eBay and see if they’re still available..... I know some kart racers use them.....

I've ordered one.

Please note:
If it turns out to be a load of "Pony & Trap", I shall hold you responsible! ;D

They're still not allowed, only digital temp gauges (which is obviously what this will be when asked I'm sure 😉)

I think it’s the CRMC who have a problem with them.... other clubs seem ok with them....
